Operation LINESMEN is the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) contribution to the Inter-Korean peace process, at the request of the United Nations Command (UNC).

ADF personnel support the UNC Military Armistice Commission (UNCMAC) to assist with the monitoring of Comprehensive Military Agreement activities within the Demilitarised Zone. This aims to reduce tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Operation LINESMEN demonstrates Australia’s commitment to the security and stability of the Korean Peninsula, and is consistent with our close engagement with the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the United States on security matters.

Australia’s commitment to Operation LINESMEN includes three ADF personnel. Australia will continually review its commitment against the requirements of the UNC and adjust if appropriate.

ADF personnel deployed on Operations LINESMEN assist UNCMAC to assist with the ROK implementation of Comprehensive Military Agreement confidence building activities within the Demilitarised Zone.
